Graduate Student Researcher
Collected river topography, bathymetry, and sub-
strate data using RTK GPS. Developed 2D numer-
ical hydrodynamic models using SRH-2D and TU-
FLOW. Developed open-source software tools for
geomorphic and ecohydraulic analysis. Evaluated
ecological impacts associated with river restora-
tion project implementation and subsequent mor-
phodynamic changes to inform effective river man-
agment.

Tutor
Provided chalkboard lessons and individual tutor-
ing for math and physics courses including vec-
tor calculus, differential equations, linear algebra,
statistics, quantum mechanics and electromagnetism.
Provided one-on-one tutoring for a graduate en-
gineering course in nonlinear dynamical systems
and chaos theory.

Commercial Salmon Fisherman
Lived and worked on a boat in remote parts of
Alaska during the summers. Maintained and re-
paired electrical and mechanical systems in sub-
optimal conditions (e.g. soldering in heavy rain).
Responsibilities included boat navigation, tide cal-
culations, operating heavy machinery, and mend-
ing nets, all while working up to 20 hour shifts.

RIVER ARCHITECT
Research Project | 2019-2020
Developed a peer-reviewed, Python-3 based open-
source software toolkit for GIS-based planning and
evaluation of river design features. The toolkit in-
tegrates numerical hydrodynamic models and bi-
ological datasets to optimize river designs for geo-
morphic longevity and ecological quality while mit-
igating fish stranding risks and minimizing costs
(riverarchitect.github.io).
